QUESTION FOR COLLECTORS, double eagle 1933 original?

I just opened the safe of my grand father. it has being there for over 50 years, It麓s inherited to me. It麓s in mint condition. I saw that it is illegal to have it? I dont really give a crap. it麓s not stolen or anything and besides, i麓m from mexico, I have being looking that they sold one at sotheby麓s for 7,5 million. where do i get contact with this people, and how can i sell it legally. Please only serious answers, or u will get reported. I dont care if someone believes me or not, just want to know the answers fot my questions. I will most apretiate it. if someone knows a collector, for real, please tell them to contact me. Im will not travel. (p.s. my coin is in a safe now in the bank)

First of all they are legal to own as collectors items, so you don't need to worry about that. No one can give you a good idea about the value without seeing it. Among other things it needs to be checked for condition and its mint mark. But it is valuable. I used to be into coin collecting in a big way but it has been years, so I don't know current prices. It will probably be worth well over 1,000, but not likely 7.5 million. You could take it to your local coin shop and they will make you an offer. Also you can check out double eagles on ebay to get an idea of what they are selling for. Just do a search on US gold coins. Good luck.

After I wrote the answer above, I started thinking more about the date, and realized that a 1933 date would be very rare. See the wiki reference below. I would take it to Sotheby's. . They did well with last one!

I would have it certified by the American Numismatic Association, the ANA, to get full value. There is a fee, but the last time I checked it was modest. See the ANA link below
