How does a COMPANY get stock market symbols? |
big companies have stock market symbols, how do the aquire them, what is the prosess? They must request an IPO (initial public offering) with both the exchange they want to be traded under (NYSE, NASDAQ, Chicago, etc.) and with the U.S. Government's SEC (security exchange commission). The ask the listing board for an unused ticker symbol. They may have to outbid other companies interested in said symbol (i.e., single-letter symbols such as C-Citibank, F-Ford, two-letter symbols such as GE-General Electric). when it listed in stock market |
