Is it so wrong?

Do you think that it so wrong to give up your dream of becoming a proffessional photographer just because your Mom thinks that you can do better? I want to make my Mom happy, but I want to be happy too!

You should do what you want. its a good dream, and its a good thing you care about your mother. but she has her life, she had her chance of making herself happy with her dream job (if she even achieved it). Don't let her get in the way....thats one of many reasons why many never reach their dreams. Your mom will understand...she'll see your hard work and effort. she'll be happy that your happy.

if you follow your dreams and make it big, your mum would be proud and happy for you and you'll be too :]

Just do what you want, its not her decision. It's yours, It's your life. Do what you want with it.

Why would you want to make your mom happy? She won't be living your life, will she?

The truth is, when it comes to following your dreams, if YOU are happy in your life, she'll be happy too.

Follow your dreams, but you have to think realistically as well. I would LOVE to be a professional photographer myself. Its my main hobby. :) But from what I hear, a lot of photographer don't get paid much. *shrug* But hey, if you have the time and effort, I'd say GO FOR IT!!

I'm sure Annie Liebovitz's mom wanted her to do something else too. Your mom is only trying to tell you that she wants you to have a stable career. If you get a stable career as a photographer your mom will be fine with it because all mom's just want their children to be happy. When she sees you're happy she'll be happy.

well first of all photography has a lot of competitions and those people that are gifted are the one who are most likely to suceed in this area.... I think your mom has a point but try to ask her what does she think you can do better at. and at you aim career try asking people like you friends what they think of you photos and see if they think you have what it takes to become a photographer or professional photographer, after that tell your mom about it..

If you have a passion, the need to live and breath photography then you should do it as much as you can. Does it make you happy ? If yes, then do it ! Your mom will live trust me. If it makes you happy then thats all that matters. Do you want to work a 9-5 job every day making ok money and hating your job ? Stick to what makes YOU happy. I bet you anything thing she dosent believe in you because she dosent believe in her self. Famous photographers didnt give up just because some one didnt believe in them. They believed in themselves thats all that matters !

My dream was to have a feature on national geographic at one point in my life. And I have the total freedom of a bird; but i couldn't follow that path. The truth to it was that it takes an average of 2 decades before you are recognized by the world at large, and i didn't have the financial stability to attempt that road.

I think your mom does want you to be happy and to do what you want in life; but she wants you to be stable in life first, and foremost.

You don't need to a professional to enjoy your passion. If your doing it for the art, then it wouldn't matter if you freelance for a newspaper, or open your own gallery, or that you only share it with your friends and family.

But you are you're own master in the end, go where your heart takes you. You don't want to look back at your life and ask 'what if..'

I'm sure that just about everyone has already told you that you should definitely follow your dreams,so all that I can say is "dido's" to that. Of course you should follow your own dream.Just explain to your mom that you're serious about your desire to be a photographer. Once she sees how serious that you are she'll completely respect your decision.

He works as an enginneer.as a job.
