what if a employer does not give it
Is it important for Top IT companies to see the salary slip of applicants ....
should a small company avoid giving such documents to avoid hunting of employees

A salary slip is a document issued by an employer to an employee, which shows the details of the employee's income as also the details of the various deductions and thereby the net pay of any particular month.
A salary slip is no doubt an important document for an employee. He/she can get the details of his income and deductions and thereby the net pay at a glance. By documenting the salary slips methodically, he/she can also see even at home whether there have been any over deductions or under payment during any month.
An employer might not issue monthly salary slips as it is not statutory. But if an employee demands a salary certificate for any particular month(s) or year for a particular purpose (e.g. applying for a housing loan), the employer must issue the same.
Any prospective employer (not necessarily top IT companies only) might want to see salary slips from a person's past service in order to determine the salary appropriate for him/her in the new job.
As for issuing salary slips, the choice rests on the employer. He/she may or may not issue the same for any reason.
However, an Income Tax Return gives a broad overview of a person's income from salary. But it omits many minor details.
