USPS delivery issue?

I had mailed a parcel worth 80 bucks from Indianapolis to Michigan using USPS Priority Mail. The parcel didnt reached my friends place according to my friend. But USPS says that it has been kept at their door step and my friend says he never got it. What should i do now.
I filed a complain against this thing, USPS says they cant do anything since it wasnt insured. They suggested me to file a police complain. Is that right and if yes would that be possible to get my parcel back or can anyone suggest me something else. Thanks

No i had not requested for Delivery signature. I dont have any idea about stealing of parcel from his place. But i agree never underestimate the place, its near detroit

Ahh, the unfortunate problem with USPS. Did you request a delivery signature? If not, they can leave the package at the door. Has your friend ever had packages stolen from the front porch before?

complain all you want and get it insured in the future.
