I"m on the do not call list, but still get calls from companies wanting to sell me something. What do I do?

If you are serious about it, complain. It is up to the company to "scrub" their telemarketing lists free of DNC members. It costs money and takes up resources, so some companies either don't bother or aren't prudent about it. I worked for a company that violated the DNC policy and was sued by a consumer. Before you do anything though, have proof and understand what companies ARE allowed to contact you.

Calls from or on behalf of political organizations, charities, and telephone surveyors are still be permitted. Also "exhisting business relationship" will be able to call you. Meaning you did business with them in the past (there are guidelines, like a time limit, I do not know them), they can telemarket you and make you new offers.

If you receive telemarketing calls after you have registered your telephone number and it has been in the registry for 31 days, you can file a complaint at donotcall.gov or by calling toll-free 1-888-382-1222 (TTY: 1-866-290-4236). You will have to know the date of the call and the company's name or phone number to file a do not call complaint. A telemarketer who disregards the National Do Not Call Registry could be fined up to $11,000 for each call.

Also, the TSR prohibits deceptive and abusive telemarketing acts and practices and sets forth standards of conduct for telemarketing calls:
* Calling times are restricted to the hours between 8 a.m. and 9 p.m.
* Telemarketers must promptly tell you the identity of the seller or charitable organization and that the call is a sales call or a charitable solicitation.
* Telemarketers must disclose all material information about the goods or services they are offering and the terms of the sale. They are prohibited from lying about any terms of their offer.

If you ARE going to sue, have documentation and proof they did anythign wrong. Phone log records, taped conversations, etc. The gentlemen who sued the company I worked for lost, not because he was wrong, he was right, but because he didn't explain hsi case properly to the judge.

google national no call list and report them they will want the number they called from and company name as well as your number

You will find everything you need to complain here...
http://www.fcc.gov/cgb/donotcall/

yeah, definately report them, try to get the company name, phone number, and even the operator who called if you answer it. that way the company will get fined and will stop doing it.
