USPS question?

If I shipped something priority from queens, NY to n. bellmore, NY:

on monday i took it to the post office

should it get to the buyer on wednesday or thursday.

(assuming priority takes 2 days all the time)

Since Tuesday was a holiday it does not count as a service day. Two days from Monday in this case would be Thursday. Not all Priority mail is two day. Some is one day and some is three day, basically it depends on the distance. I don't know where Bellmore is, but I am assuming up state, but from Queens it shouldn't take more than two days. Priority mail does not have a guaranteed delivery time but in most cases it is there within 3 days. There are factors that can slow it down. Weather, the time of day that you mailed it, meaning whether it made that days dispatch or not, mail volume etc. Also Monday being Christmas eve there were a lot of employees who had already left for the day, so probably not a whole lot of mail got sorted that day. If you mailed it late Monday it may have not been sorted until Wednesday, so it may not be delivered until Friday. Hope this helps you.

priority mail is delivered on average in 2 to 3 days, with no guarantee.


If you want a guaranteed delivery then you need to send it express mail. Of course this only mean if they don't try to deliver it on time, they will refund your money.

Despite being home, I always find a note telling I can pick the pack up the next day at the post office, so don't expect the person to get it the day they try to deliver it.

On the other hand, I have sent stuff express to a business or government address and have never been told that it arrived late.
