What does "Pickup" and "Collection Scan" mean on the UPS tracking website?

I'm tracking a package on the UPS website. For status is says "pickup" and for package progress, it says "Collection Scan".
What does this mean? Do I have to pickup the item?

The label on every package sent via UPS contains a bar code that identifies the individual package.

When UPS picks up the package they scan the label with a small hand-held device that reads the label and enters the code into a central computer.

Each time the package arrives at some intermediate or the end point of its route the label gets scanned again.

All this happens so that you can find out the progress of your package.

Whether you have to pick up the package or not depends on how it was addressed by the sender. Normally, the package would be delivered to your address unless your address is a Post Office box.

To make sure, call the local UPS office, give them the tracking number and ask if and when they plan to deliver it.
