When you shake hands at a meeting with everyone, do you cringe because you are picking up their butt germs?

Is it really worth it?

I try to keep my hand out of my butt generally...

If you have such a problem dealing with germs, you need not share your "issue" with others at the expense of proper etiquette. You will stand out as an "odd ball" if you do. Can you not simply be gracious, and appropriate, without damaging your own career? There are now (and never before) a million types of antibacterial solutions. (can't you just keep your hands away from your face etc. until the meeting is over and you have access to some antibacterial lotion/oil/cleanser?)
A meeting is so much more important than all of the millions of other areas you are going to pick up "germs" on a day to day basis.
I guess it really comes down to how important your job is to you. If you make a big deal about it, you will look like a freak. And sad to say...people will "talk." I have seen it happen at work over and over again. Not my opinion, but people WILL talk.
Choose your battles; bottom line.
