Where can I find a standard price list & breakdown for what a Marketing Consultant cost?

I'm also interested in what services a Marketing Consultant provides to their clients.

Most marketing consultants, including yours truly, charge on a project basis. For example, I may tell a client that I will handle all aspects of a campaign or a project for x-number of months for a set fee.

There are occasions, however, when I may be asked to provide a particular service. For example, I might be asked to write a marketing plan. Given the scope of the work involved, I will set my price accordingly.

On most occasions, however, I am involved on a product, service or company from start to finish, and dealing with all aspects of the marketing assignment.

A marketing consultant may charge a little less to a smaller company than a larger one - even though the same amount of work may be involved.

I have never seen a rate card for a Marketing Consultant. Most consultants charge on the basis of their experience and on the past results they have achieved for their clients. Just because one may charge a little more or less than another doesn't mean that one is better or worse than the next guy. Also, keep in mind that some marketing consultants specialize in a given category. For example, my specialty is retail products and services. I could provide a high tech company the BASICS for a good marketing strategy, but I would be somewhat out of my element.

If you are thinking of hiring a marketing consultant, find one who has experience in your area and is willing to provide a set number of hours/services for a set fee. You will be better off than being charged by the hour.

Good luck.

Most consultants will provide their clients a written proposal of what described services he/she can provide in return for specified fees based on either tangible DELIVERABLEs like reports etc or billable hours worked etc.

There is no standard price list per say, rather the market price is subject to the going labor rate for specified labor category that varies according to education and experience. The truth of the matter is if a consultant has fewer clients or is starting up, his/her rates are low sometimes even willing to take a loss just to get their foot in the door to demonstrate their value and worthiness... As business picks up, they normally get certain preferred clients who give the consultant steady work and cash flow a better rate simply bec they are grateful for opportunity and references are important and can result in more business. At the same time,if business gets so good, a consultant is able to raise their fees bec more than enough work that maybe they need to hire another qualified employee...

Hope the Above Info Helps!

A consultant in any field of work can roughly expect to have about 100 billable days per year (this is an average, and someone starting out may not get this, but this is how consultants are advised to plan what they charge). So, for every chargeable day, a consultant should charge 1% of their last job. So if their previous job paid 40k a year, they'd be charging you 拢400 a day, or 60k a year, 拢600 per day etc. But then someone very experienced may be more than this. Also, you'd have to decide whether the amount of days they've told you it will take them to do something is reasonable.
As for services, this could be very broad. They could be a creative type, who would do copywriting, corporate branding, pr, and ad schemes. Or, a more methodical type might offer services such as research, and marketing planning. But then you get lots of sub-sections such as corporate social responsibility planning, and a consultant may just specialise in that. So, basically its a very varied subject!
