How do you define synergistic marketing?


I can't find much information on this. This is basically how I can understand it so far -

This is the process whereby all departments work together to the same aim using the same methods. It is essentially the process of determining future action for the company to take, based upon the current situation of the company, where it would like to be in the future and the possible routes it can take to get there.

But in practical terms - what is involved? I suppose I need a case study so to see how it applies. Thanks all.

Synergistic Marketing basically refers to how all the components of a company and/or a marketing campaign work together.

For example, let's say you are a major retail jeweler with 100 stores across the country.

Synergistic Marketing would be the process of making sure that all the components of your company are working together to support your marketing goals. So, your while your marketing department might be involved with producing a print catalog, your IT division might be involved with designing a web site. Your e-commerce division might be involved in integrating an online shopping site into your web site. Your distribution system would be involved in making sure each of your stores has sufficient quantity of advertised products. Merchandising would be working with your marketing department to make sure the right products are available to be photographed for the catalog. In such a scenario, each division of your company is working with the others.

Another example of Synergistic Marketing would be making sure that all aspects of a campaign have the same look and feel. So, regardless if whether a customer is reading a print catalog, shopping online, watching a tv commercial, or listening to the radio, your customer would know they are all part of the same campaign.

These are very simplified definitions of Synergistic Marketing, but I hope they help.

Suppose there are two companies one is dealing in mobile phones and another one is dealing in mobile phone acessories. And if these two companies joined together for there mutual benefit , this type of marketing is called synergistic marketing .
