Why would someone call asking for a "possible neighbor"?

I just got a call from a guy who didn't say who he was or where he worked. He said, "Hi, I'm calling about a possible neigbor of yours, named Serena?"
I said, "No, there's nobody by that name by us."
He said, "Isn't this 243 [street where I live]?"
I said, "No..." (it's not.)
He was like, "Okay sorry for the inconvenience."
I tried to *69 it but it said it was either out of the area or marked private and couldn't be handled by the service. Should I be suspicious of this?

debt collector or private investigator perhaps. could be anyone.

just forget it unless you know this serena , then you might let her Know about the call. think no more of it unless you get other strange calls then consider calling the police or something.

It was a debt collector,they'll try anything.

I had this happen to me this week for the first time as well.

I thought it must be a debt collector. I am just answering this in case it is something else - maybe a bunch of people are seeing this?
