How to start a fragrance line?

I have an idea for a fragrance line that I want to start. What are the steps to find the chemist or company to mix the ingredients, design the bottle and start the marketing of it. How do celebs like Paris Hilton do it? Clearly Paris didn't come up with the idea on her own or else the brand would have been more personalized! What are the do's and don'ts of starting such a biz? How much is the start up? Has anyone tried and succeeded or failed? I am curious if this is the right venture for me!

wow.... you actually already hit the answer, be rich and famous or know someone in the business. Except for the gas station perfumes, it is nearly impossible.

Ok ...
First all of those people depend on there names .. theya re famouce .. and that is all what they do ... nothing more ..
The Perfum and the rest of the business is done by other people .. and those uyz just get a percentage for the utilization of there names ...

Now .. as that been said ...
Perfum Business is very rewarding ... if you do it right .. it is so good and better than gold it self ...

What you need to do is this:
1) Search in Yahoo or Google .. for perfum receipts and how it is made .. you'll be surprised how easy it is ...
2) From those website get the contacts and adrress of the nearest shops where you can by the assencess .. and take the advantage and ask the uyz in the shop about how to master making a fragrance ... don't forget to get the best prices for quantities .. the first time you'll buy just to try and experiment ..
3) Search for a bottle making factory or workshop that may accept small orders .. like below 100 bottles ... contact them and visit them .. get the prices ..
4) Go back home .. set on you desk .. and start calculating the costs for preducing a 100 bottle of the most successful fragrance you did .. (Make sure you take the opinion of your friends about how it is) ...
5) Add the cost for the promotion and advertisement .. as well as you transportation costs ...
6) Start your plan ...

P.S. Make sure that this investmenet is not huge on your shoulders .. as failure is a possible thing for someone who is starting in this way ...

The second why you can start .. and it is much rewarding but painfull is ...

After experimenting ... start selling a customized perfumes .. have a small sample bag .. of all assencess .. and ask your friends each at a time .. about how there favorate frarances .. and try to make them smell this and that .. then creat for each one his own personal bottle ...
Each bottle well cost you really cheap .. and giving it for free is a good promotion and advertisin practice .. as you do that you build up clientele base out of your friends .. and also spreading the word between you locals about your costumized perfumes service ...

Calculate the cost of the bottle .. and add to it the promotional costs .. and then add your mark-ups ...

And here you are on the right road to success .. later on you can start a manufacturing business ... :-)
