A good product does not need advertisement. Do you agree or disagree?

I want to know wheather there is need for a good product to be advertised before it could be well sold?

Sure there is.

Even a good product won't sell if no one knows about it.

a good product is no good unless people know that its good..

well i came up with the tag line but it does seem to fit in here..

if its new and you dont advertise how will people know about it?? Advertising is the key to success to selling a product or starting a business. You shouldnt skimp on advertising.

Disagree. Consider the following scenario (which is not original to me, but I don't know the original source.)

A businessman refuses to advertise. But he drives an advertised car, buys an advertised brand of gas, wears advertised suits, eats advertised foods, works out in an advertised health club, sleeps on an advertised mattress. When he has low sales, he gets on his )(advertised) computer and fires off an angry email to his Congressman asking why the Federal Government doesn't do something to ensure that foreign manufacturers (who advertise) can't compete with American-built products.

I think the folly of this man's approach is evident.

I have also heard it said that the best advertising is not adevetrising per se, but the recommendations of those who have purchased the product and are satisfied with it.

Naturally, anything can be stretched to the ridiculous point. When we see tv spots between football game halves involving talking animals selling beer or people morphing into weird shapes, or cars driving up the walls of buildings and under water, or old geezers talking about how they can still get it up, we realize that some of these ad executives have more money in their budgets than is good for us, the consumer. This is why it is our duty to use out critical faculties on such tripe and reject 99.99% of it.

Buying a given brand of (car, beer, toothpaste) will not make us successful at work, school or in the sack. It is the regular frequency of bathing, brushing teeth, etc., that will go further to help us succeed in those areas than which brand we use.

To a certain extent, a good product can become part of its own advertisement. But there needs to be that initial impetus, the spark that gets things going. Nothing can happen without it. There's not going to be any light unless you flip the switch. Even an atomic bomb won't go off by itslf. It just sits there and does nothing.

Of course, there's nothing that says you HAVE TO advertise... you could just sit there and wait for your product to evolve....

I disagree. How are people going to know how great it is.
Advertising encompasses a lot of tools. More is needed to get products into the hands of consumers and businesses.

Anything that require sales (good or bad) need advertising.

No. In todays competitive world it is an absolute necessity. And you must track where your money is wasted.
