Tip number one: post the URL any chance you get.

The best way to promote it online is to start talking with the people who you want to read it. Online forums and message boards (online communities dedicated to specific topics) are the places to find these people. Google the term "wine forums" and several results will come up. Get involved in conversations and become a part of the community. Don't just post a message that says "read my blog" because people will view this as spam. Moderators will usually delete such posts. Create a signature that includes the name and the link to your blog, since links are usually allowed in signatures. The most you post, the more times your link will be seen.

As for offline marketing, try giving out business cards or talking your blog up at wineries and local wine tastings.

A Wine Blog sounds interesting and you should be able to get traffic to your blog without too much trouble.

Blogs are basically part of Web 2.0 so join as many social bookmarking sites as you can and social bookmark your blog. (I use SocialMarker.com). If your posts/blog are liked then you'll find people will SB you site too, increasing awareness in what you have to say. It takes time but is well worth the effort.

Get backlinks from similar sites/blogs to yours. If you are providing quality content, ask for a link to be put on a simialr site/blog and also put their site link on your blog. Google loves backlinks.

Articles are also very good backlinks - submit as many as you can to places such as ezinearticles. Make sure they are informative and relate to your blog.
