Marketing Department in hotels?

what are the functions of a marketing department in hotels? what are their responsibilities?

to keep the rooms full of people. to "sell" their hotel.

Depending on the Hotel your working at your objectives will be to:
-develop campaign
-purchase advertising
- participate at various trade show events
- Solicited Group Booking from location corporate offices, church events, business seminars and expos etc. . .

The bottom line is, the hotel needs you to fill the rooms. Just because the position is in the marketing department, doesn't mean, it isn't just a sales job with a nice title.
