What type of research should you do to discover and hone in on your target consumer?

Hi Rachel here are some general idea to steer you in the right direction. When looking for develop your target market here are a few questions you should be asking yourself.:

1. First define the general market. Is the, is type of products you have girls ages 8 - 12, teenager ages 13 - 17, young adults ages 18 -25. women in the early 20's, mid 30's or late 40's to 50's.
2. Base on the ingredient you're using for the product, is it going to retail for:
- under $5 for a consumer that usually shops at wal greens or wal market for their beauty products.
- $10 plus for a consumer that usually shops at macy's
-$30 plus for a consumer that usually shops at Neiman Marcus

Once your figure out the two questions above your be able to develop your target audience based on sex, age and house hold income. (Just a reminder your packaging can't be developed until you've figure out the questions above)

the best thing to do is hire a research firm to test market your product. you can ask your friends to help you get people thought on the product. you can look up info and see what people what age buy products like yours. you might ask a store to help you sell your product and get there feed back on what people think.
Ask I said at first it is best to get a company to test your product for you.
