Is this illegal in the workforce?

is it illegal for your manager to embarrass you in front of other employees about being late and to tell other employees that you have been fired???

It does not violate any federal or state laws. Being a stupid manager and an axx is not illegal.

It's probably not illegal, but definitely not very moral. I'd confront him/her about it.

its not really illegal to embarrass you telling people you were fired might be because its a privacy issue
but if you file a complaint it is harassment and it should result in disciplinary action

We studied a court case last year of a manager who "terrorized" his workers. He would yell incredibly loud, charge at them with his fingers pointing from his head like a bull, and degrade them. The court said "his behavior was outrageous and shocks the conscience of an acceptable standard of decency."

The plaintiffs, the people who worked under him, sued him for "intentional infliction of emotional distress". The deciding factor was that the outrageous conduct was intentional and meant to injure the people to whom it was directed. It also was extensive over a period of 6 months. The court said that it was evident that the conduct was meant to instill fear into the subordinates and the fact that it was their own boss made it worse. All of the plaintiffs had to seek counseling.

If the manager continuously embarasses you for a long time such that you are convinced that he/she is evil. You may want to talk to a lawyer or get another job. It is incredibly difficult to collect under a suit of Intentional Infliction of Emotional Distress (IIED).

They do it all the time. If it's the truth it is not illegal just not ethically right.

I don't know if it is illegal but it is just wrong.There is a better way to handle such matters like talking to you privately.It takes a person with a big ego and someone who likes to humiliate people to do such a thing.I am sorry you were treated like that.

There legality factor does not apply in this case.It all depends on to what degree a person is embarassed by the manager.If the person wants,he or she can still sue the manager for the offence of hurting the psychological and emotional health of a person,causing him to suffer a life long adverse effect .or stuff like that.Also do consider the reason for dismissal.Is it lawful?If not,then sue his *** off!!
