Move to south florida but we dont know many people in south florida?

single

I did that very thing in 2001, and I did make friends thru work. So, to answer your question---yes, you will make friends.

Moving anywhere will depend on you and your lifestyle, your age, where you are in life, what you like to do, what kind of people you like to hang out with, kids, career, how much make...etc. Consider where you want to live and work, how long a typical commute would be.

Living in FL and vacationing in FL, even to see what it's like can be two very different things. I always have fun when I visit FL, but when I moved there, after about 6-8 months I was like--HEH? And believe me, my husband and I went all over, Keys, Bahamas...etc. After the fun wears off, it's no big deal. I worked, I did laundry, grocery shopped, barely went to the beach, my pool was like lawn furniture. It was also so hot, I barely knew my neighbors---no one is outside. I saw landscapers, pool guys and terminix more than I saw my neighbors. And there are so many cockroaches down there...they nicely call them palmetto bugs. I also was NOT keen on the sucky rain and hurricanes. Ya know, even the fact that there isn't really a climate change could bog a person down. And yes, people are rude down there.

As far as jobs, I think they suck down there. Work ethics are lacking. Pay sucks. There were a bunch of unhappy employees, upper management were mostly a bunch of LAZY FINGER POINTERS. I know you can find that anywhere---but this was the worse I have ever seen. Most would stroll in at 10am and expect you be on their schedule...like not take lunch at noon, or work til 7-8 like they did. Others disappeared to golf/manicures/beach. And some would watch you like a hawk and tell you when you can have lunch. Friends I made told me most of the companies were like that.

I am from the midwest, and FL did NOT have that midwest mentality that I was used to. Once we started to have a family, needed better jobs, stable incomes, better place to raise kids, better schools....we couldn't get out of FL fast enough! Left in 2004.

Obviously, I am not a fan of living there, but your experience can be better, like I said, it all depends on YOU.

FL is a very transient state...people don't stay long. But, people do stay....we still have friends down there...and I will still visit.

GOOD LUCK!!

That's ok. Most people who live in South Florida aren't origianlly from here, so meeting new people won't be too hard. You'll have to accept that most South Floridians are going to be rude. It's nothing personal, we just don't deal with stress well, and the traffic here is a bit frustrating. Otherwise, an all-nighter in South Beach will have you making friends in no time!
