At gamestop, can managers hire 17 year olds if their birthday is a month away?

One of my friends from school works at gamestop and is 17, and told me his manager hired him because he looked smart enough to work there. Im 17 and was told that only 18 year olds can be hired there, is this right?

Q: What is the minimum age requirement to work at GameStop?

A: You must be at least 16 years old to be eligible for employment at GameStop.

If you're 17 and the Manager told you 18 is age required, he LIED...and it may have been a personal thing....So...try ANOTHER Gamestop...there's plenty of them around!

I think it probably is right. The reason is that Gamestop sells video games, some rated mature. It's just like you have to be 18 to sell alcoholic beverages.
