Application work history?

when i fill out an application is it fine if i dont put in one of my previous jobs in the work history section? reason i say this is because i think one of my previous jobs is giving a bad reference about me and making it hard for me to get another job. only problem if i did this, is that i worked at that previous job for 3 years. on the application its going to ask about this time gap if i didnt put this job in the application. how could i explain this? also, since the company im applying for knows my social security number, cant they find out all the jobs i worked at by doing a background check even if i didnt include that previous job in the application?

an application is a legal form. by signing you r name you are saying the info you give is accurate and complete.

You need to explain in the responsibility section why you left. be brief and to the point. if there is c comments section you can ask that that employer not be contacted for a reference.
