To find out the cost of sales/material cost.
To find out the credit worthiness of the customer with the past records since in Sales Dept they concentrate only on the target and not bothered about the realization of money..

To look after a specific client and cater for all their needs.

Exactly - to manage current clients and try to upsell different products & services whilst also tending to all their gripes.
