Would you stay to work late on your last day of work? |
Would you stay to work late on your last day of work? if you are asking about the last day of the week then absolutely yes. I doubt I would even show up! aah, NO! No because that dedication would not get mentioned to a potentially new employer. Nope! Depends. If you think in the future you may ask them for a reference then you may want to help them out as best you can on your last day. Or if the industry you're in is pretty tight knit, then you wouldn't want them telling other people you may one day interview with that you screwed them over on your last day of work. But if the stuff above doesn't apply, then just go home at 5. You can probably go home earlier or skip the day but they may not pay you for the whole day. Yes. I've done it. I've even gone back on weekends (with pay, of course) to continue with training my replacement. I don't like leaving loose ends for the next person. It may not transfer to good recommendations for my next job, but it could matter down the line with referrals for another. Plus, I know I could always go back if I wanted. Yep, I'm like Tara - I wanted to tie up loose ends and didn't want my replacement inheriting a lot of stuff from the get-go. If I felt it was necessary to transition myself out of the job completely, or I had clients that would suffer if I didn't, then I would. The question really is, if you don't work late, will you burn any important bridges? Why not? |
