Are medical billing specialists a scam??

my mom has been trying to get me to work at home as a medical billing speacialist, i was wondering if there are any women who are in this career or know of anyone who is in this. please let me know and if there are any websitess you can refer to that would be very help ful.

thank you

My next-door-neighbor does that. She went to our local community college to take courses in medical transcription, and was hired by some firm who get contracts from doctor's offices and the like to do this work for them. The people who are employed by this firm do the work out of their homes. I believe they have billing and coding work too. Good luck.

My sis inlaw is almost finnished with school whith an externship soon...she may work at 1 drs office or at home for a few ...not a scam. She also started learning her job while working as a receptionist with free time....High demand also just check your local classifieds!

There are people doing this type of work from home, plus related services. Billing is processing invoices, often to insurance payors as well as patients themselves, based on the coded service.

Medical coding is the code assigned to a particular procedure or type of service. The insurance company pays based on the coding applied. It's sort of like a language.

Medical Transcription is the keyboarding (into a typewriter or computer) of reports from dictation recorded by a doctor or health professional pertaining to medical information. History and physicals, admission notes, office visit notes, operations, hospital discharge reports and consultations are just a few of the (work) types of reports that are created by the medical transcriptionist.

Super information is found on the website below including real job listings.

Can you clarify what information you're seeking? You ask for website references but don't say if you're looking for job listings, educational courses, or maybe the Federal Trade Commission or Better Business Bureau website for information on specific companies you think may be offering a scam.
