How do you become a diamondologist? |
How do you become a diamondologist? Never heard of such. Gemologist is a different story. Get a good science degree, get experience in precious jewels, get a job with a jewel company. Probably take about 10 years. There is no such thing as a diamondoligist. Although a gemoligist is certified to appraise diamonds and other precious gemstones and may be helpful to you. Make sure that they are certified and use the G I A grading system. If you are not familiar with the G I A grading system i'd suggest you visit several jewelery stores and look through their microscopes,asking them to explain the gia system to you.. If they are afraid to use the gia scale they are probably a ripoff as are some major diamond retailers in most malls that tell me they use the bo dereck scale.Don't get me wrong bo dereck is HOT but when grading a diamond you need to use the accepted standard G I A . { i think this stands for gemoligist institute of america] but not really sure all i know is this is the respected standard. contact: |
