Legal Assistant or Paralegal Studies? |
help me choose? whats the diff? & about how much do they make? A legal asst usually does most of the lawyers work such as dictation, pleadings, briefs, etc. while a Paralegal does a lot more of the research aspect of it all, but it does vary from firm to firm, a lot of the bigger firms usually follow this while some of the smaller ones just have paralegals and they do it all. As for the pay, that also varies by firm and location but generally a paralegal makes more than a legal asst, in bigger cities the average is $45K to $60K and obviously increases with experience, however in smaller cities the pay may be in the $27K to $35K range but then again you would have to consider that its more expensive to live in the bigger cities and less expensive to live in the smaller ones. careerbuilders.com (will help you decide! income is excellent too!) |
