Is it legal for large corporations to discriminate in hiring based on sex, sexual orientation, and religion?

Someone claimed there is no longer legal protection for discriminatory practices in hiring based on sex, sexual orientation, race, and religion. Can this be true?

It is still illegal to discriminate based on sex, religion or race but sexual orientation was never on the federal list. I believe it is on the list in twelve states and DOC.

Also, illegal is one thing but will the DOJ prosecute? Not with the Bush junta in control.

I think it wouldn't be legal for someone to discriminate against others. However, corporations find ways to go around. Darn loopholes.

No, not true - those are federal laws so don't depend on the state.

No its not legal, any type of discrimination (although sexual orientation im not too sure on) is illegal but its up to the person who believes they were discriminated against to prove that that is the case which is pretty tough unless the employer outright said it.

Technically it is illegal (would be differcult to prove) but legally any company can hire who they want.
