What is the minium legal employment age in the US? |
Does it vary by state or is it pretty much standard? I mean for a job at Wal Mart, or as a grocery store stockboy. My oldest son is chomping at the bit to enter the workforce (he's ten) and we're discussing ways for him to earn money before he reaches the legal age (I just don't know what that is). its 14 in my state i assume thats probably universal..and you do need working papers which you get from jr and sr highschools but even at 14 they can only work like 10 hours a week or something like that.......not really worth it its 14 years old but you need working papaers of a specific color and lots of places wont even hire you that young US labor laws state 14; however, children as young as 10 can actually "work" as long as it's not on farm equipment or anything that's industrial. If he's really wanting to the babysitting suggestion would be okay. Anything else may require your supervision. |
