If you are getting unemployment benefits in California will I still be eligible if I get an internship?

I was working as an assistant to a mortgage broker while in school. However because of the mortgage downfall I was laid off. Now, I'm getting umemployment. Now, I'm trying to become a paralegal given that the mortgage market is no longer something I want to pursue.

However, finding a paralegal position is difficult BUT I've been offered unpaid internships. If i were to be doing internship work will I still be eligible for unemployement benefits?

So long as it's unpaid you can continue collecting UI...You needn't report that you're even doing an unpaid internship to the EDD, however, you will still have to seek PAID F/T work. My advice on Paralegal...Which I am certified by UCLA's program...don't waste your time...You'll end up being a clerk for several years and by than you'll have to go back to relearn the Paralegal material you forgot waiting to do what you were taught initially. Suggest anything to do with pharmacy or medical field. PEACE!
