2. I am a law student, and even I feel the need to throw on a disclaimer when I give advice which may be construed as legal advice. It is a legal ethics/Bar Association thing. Technically, we are professionally responsible for the words that come out of our mouths. If I give you legal advice that you take, and it ends up being bad advice, I could technically be held accountable.

3. It says that as a society we are very lawsuit-happy, to the point where we sue lawyers for bad advice even when it was just meant to be a friendly suggestion. We need to cover our own rear ends. Even though disclaimers are really just lip service, they fulfill some imaginary requirement that you understand we are giving you advice as another human being who happens to have legal knowledge, not legal advice as an attorney.

Do you know the difference between an attorney and a white lab rat?

a. there are a heck of a lot more attorneys than white lab rats.
b. you can become emotionally attached to a white lab rat.
c. there are some things a white lab rat will NOT do for money
