What is the best way to submit your two weeks notice?


I dont know what is proper, letter, e-mail or in person. I am the manager so I dont want to burn any bridges but I hate my job and the stress that comes with it is overwhelming. ( help )

What you should do is type up a letter of resignation. Put on it, the date, something short and sweet, just saying 'To Whom it May Concern, Please consider this my two weeks notice, my last day will be xx/xx/xxxx. Sincerely yours, John Doe' and *Sign it*. You don't need to put why you are quitting, but i would suggest typing it up, signing it properly and handing it to your supervisor. After giving it to your supervisor, stick around to see what they say/reactions. Just be polite and courteous. I'm sure if you're an excellent employee, they will be upset you're leaving...and may want to know why. You don't want to burn any bridges, so just be as polite and understanding as possible. I would write a letter and hand it to the HR person or your immediate supervisor, whichever is in charge of things like that.

Written, but don't mail it. Hand it to your supervisor.
And, once you've given your notice, don't take any vacation time or days off during that two weeks (i.e., don't give your 2-weeks notice the day before you take off on your 2-week paid vacation that you scheduled five months ago.) That makes it look like you've been planning to leave all along, and haven't really been putting in your best effort at your current job.

it is better to do it in person because it is the proper thing to do and that boss would be more likely to give you a good work record been in business management for 35 some years and would be more likely to give some body a good record if they came to me to talk

well, since you are the manager, chances are you don't have a supervisor. So, I take it you report directly to the company owner, CEO, VP, or whatever.

I am in a similar situation where I am the manager of the company. The person I report to is the company owner, who is located 150 miles away from me. While I have no intention of every leaving my job (at least not for now... I really do love it), I have thought about how I would handle quitting. In my case, it would be via telephone...next best thing to being in person.

I would also submit an "intent to quit" letter as well. Be open, honest, and to the point. Your boss will respect you for taking an honest approach to leaving the company. You want to be able to use him/her as a reference in the future, so stay real and positive with your submission.

resignations should always be in writing and should be presented to your supervisor in person as you discuss your decision.

I would say turning in written notice, preferably in person but if this is not feasible then in some other form but NOT email if there is another route [even if it is interdepartmental mail or something]. Make sure you address to the proper person and everything and retain a copy for yourself, and I would call in a day or so just to touch base and make sure they have received your correspondence.

The proper way to do so in by written notice, this leaves no questions about your intent to leave your job and provides the employer sufficient notice. Email is not very formal and doing so in person can facilitate a conversation you really don't want to have as you shouldn't be required to explain yourself. Life is too short to stay in a stressful job. Good luck!
