Whats the best state in the US to practice law if you want a nice quiet life? |
Im looking for a nice town - not too quiet or remote - not with too many lawyers - like New York or washington cause it seems it would be tough getting a job in these places. I am in Massachusetts there are a lot of lawyers and law schools. It is also an expensive state. A big issue is whether you have any experience or not, even then unless you qualify for a corporate law firm, top law firm experience, top 5% of class, top 20 law school you will not be making a lot of money. With 3 yrs of experience the salary range is 35K-55K. You can check MA attorney jobs at www.lawyersweekly.com, that is where 95% of new jobs are advertised. I'd guess Wyoming. There isn't much there beyond tumbleweeds. Not so much the state but about the city and what you are going to focus in. Also depends on how much you want to make. The more you make the more hectic your life will be. My life has been focused on the West coast so I suggest Santa Fe, Abilene, Tucson, Reno, Colorado Springs, and Ft. Collins. You will not find a place that has a shortage of lawyers but can find one that is not dominated by lawyers. You need to go to some little hole in the wall town- if you want to live a nice quiet life- but you won't make any money! |
