How do I find out more from/about a case with legal aid?

I filed for a divorce through legal aid in 2005, because I couldnt afford a private lawyer. They assigned a lawyer to me, I met with the lawyer, did all paperwork, and a few weeks later received a notice from her saying she couldnt handle my case anymore because of her case load. Legal aid have not contacted me anymore about my case. I constantly call, and finally talked to someone that took the time for and with me and they said that the guy that was suppose to be handling my case was no longer with the company, other than that I cant get a straight answer from anyone. Does anyone know how can i get some act right? (Baton Rouge, Louisiana)

You can check the progress of the case with the local courts (either online or go directly to the family law court to find out).

If you did all the paperwork, you can file the divorce yourself.

Also, check with the family law courts; they usually have someone that can help with the completion of the paperwork for someone with little money.

Since you're in Louisiana, you may want to contact the local law library for assistance. They may be able to point you in the right direction. I will forward a link below. They can also tell you if there is a law library closer to you in Baton Rouge.
