Job- Law Clerk?

Can a Canadain diploma for Law Clerk allow me to work in the States (America)

In the U.S., the term law clerk usually refers to a law student that works during the summer or part-time during the school year and does legal research and develops legal arguments. This may also involve doing repetitive tasks the real lawyers don't want to do like discovery motions.

A paralegal also works for a lawyer and may do the same things just described for a law clerk, or may just really be a secretary that formats briefs and motions. There are paralegal courses in the U.S., but this is by no means a prerequisite to being a paralegal.

Some people get hired at law firms with almost no experience in law and learn along the way by doing mostly secretarial work at first. Disbarred lawyers also work as law clerks or paralegals.

Basically, your Canadian certificate will probably put you ahead of a job applicant with no legal experience, but behind someone that has worked at a law firm in the U.S.

Other than actual lawyers that have to pass the bar exam, most jobs at law firms have no specific requirements and an employer will just hire the person with the best experience and/or personality.
