Where and how can you find a job when you have a criminal record.?

My husband has a criminal record and even though this is in the past, he cannot find a job because all of them do the background check and end up declining his application. How could he find a job? What do people do when they have a criminal background? Is there an agency that helps with this? We are totally desperate, I need help supporting the family.

He'll have to apply for a job that doesn't do background checks.
Some careers with a high percentage of former felons and criminals:
Construction
Fork lift Driver
Warehouse worker
Manufacturing assembly line
Machine operator
and many more.

Also, it depends on what his crime was, how long ago, and what type of work he is seeking.
Example:
A person with a past that includes any of the following;
Theft, burglary, possesion of stolen property,larceny,robbery,wire fraud,check fraud,embezzelment,etc...
Trying to get any type of work that involves the handling of money. The answer would be no.
A person with a past that includes any of the following;
Rape,Sodomy,Child molestion,stalking,flashing,etc...
Trying to get any kind of job where they would be in contact with children, the answer would be no.

List the criminal record on his application. That way the background check will hold no surprises for the employer.
