Why should we hire you for this job rather than anyone else?

Why should we hire you for this job rather than anyone else?

Because I am hardworking and industrious, I have all the necessary knowledged and skill to perform this job. I have been working for 23 years in different levels of business organization and I think I can use all those experiences in your company to perform my job excellently.

I have over 8 years of secretarial experience in many different areas of legal case law, familiarity with the court system, contacts in the field, organization of file management and preparing files for court. Self-starter, little guidance needed, and genuinely enjoy the work that I do.

Because you are still talking to me.

Hate, hate, hate this question in job interviews.

What I say: Because I am qualified (rehash my qualifications) and can help your company (list something I can do - save money, process work faster, have a history of doing --- better, etc.).

What I want to say: How would I know the qualifications of the other people you have interviewed or how they match to me? So pal, if you want to show me the applications for all the others you are considering I will make the decision for you.

The thing I would cite is my "staying power." Essentially I put up with a lot of crap without ever snapping back. I do what I'm told and that's what you need from an employee.
