Is dropping calls at work misconduct or gross conduct?

hi. i have been suspended due to dropping calls on customers. i have been very stressed lately and stupidly started ending calls when the pressure was on.

could anyone tell me if its mis or gross misconduct and can i do anything to help my case when my hearing comes next week?

i work in a telecommunications company and im really worried about losing my job at this time of year. i have worked for the company for 6 years.

thanx in advance

The ball is in the court of the employer now !!
You should diplomatically handle the case. You should tell the inquiry officer that you deny the charge and state that you hold the customers in utmost regard and if any complaint has been received you tender your excuse !!.

Since this is a first time misconduct, you may be let out with a warning !!.

My own feeling is that if they wanted to remove you from service, they would have suspended you pending inquiry !!

I think in your job that might be a serious think as it sounds like it is a customer service position. I'm not sure what type of conduct your particular workplace classifies this as.

I think you should explain you've had a lot of stress and you'll make sure this will never happen again. Hopefully during the rest of your 6 years you've had good performance and can talk about that during your hearing. Good luck..

Sounds like something you'd be fired for - and might not be eligible for unemployment if that's the reason for your termination.

Since you have worked for this company for six years, you should be OK with a reprimand and note in your file but you really cannot keep doing this. Most everyone has some stress to one degree or another; but when you work and have to be professional, you cannot let personal stresses interfere with your work...meditation would be good for you, or yoga, but you need to start focusing more at work and relieving stress when you're not working so you can manage better.
