Current legal process of changing surenames?

Current legal process of changing surenames?

Fill out the form at City Hall, pay the fee, show up in front of a judge for the adjudication. That's about it.

What state? The process is usually similar in most states, but if you're in California, there are free forms available online.

You usually file a petition with the court, publish a notice (newspaper or at the courthouse) and, if no one objects at the hearing, your name is changed.

Now, if you mean by getting married, that's a different process (and you don't have to go through the above process, unless you are a guy and want to change your surname to your wife's surname).
