What's the difference between a forensic scientist and a criminologist?

What's the difference between a forensic scientist and a criminologist?

Forensic scientists basically solve crimes by collecting and analyzing physical evidence and other facts found at the scene. **fingerprints, blood, semen, firearms, saliva, drugs, ect** They write reports, preserve evidence, & testify in court.

Criminologists just study criminal law and crime. They analyze criminal behavior patterns and criminal laws, and provide theoretical explanations for criminal and delinquent behavior.

A Criminologist studies how the criminal minds works, while a Forensic Scientist is trained to study and identify crime scenes. Mainly, a Criminologists job, is to interview suspects much like a detective would, while a Forensic Scientist works in a lab running chemical tests on items or bodies from different types of crime (mainly murders, since they specialize in DNA testing as well as chemical testing).

A criminologist is more closely related to a psychologist/sociologist, whereas a Forensic Scientist deals with chemistry physics, biology, etc. (more Science)

I study criminology these eople look into why crimes are committed they look at their backgrounds of the defendants.
Forensic scientists examine the crime trying to find things like hairs to math poples DNA and finger prints and stuff
