In or near Shawnee, KS. Need tips on things to do, Casinos, best food, night life and so on....?

We will be at Mid America sports complex in Sept. for the world softball tourney. Me and my wife will be there about 5 days. Need to know best things to do out there, Casinos, best food, water parks, how is the night life? Any must see places? If you know of any, please list address so I can map quest it. Thanks!

Get a phone book when you get to town. There really is a lot to do, but not much in Shawnee itself.

If you are going to be staying around the ball fields, jump on I 435 north towards Kansas City Kansas and go to the area at I 435 and I 70 ( there is road construction, though there is road construction everywhere these days). Lots to do and a very busy place. Cabela's, Nebraska Furniture Mart (for a point of reference), many new restaurants and businesses. The home of the Kansas Speedway.

No casinos on the Kansas side of the state line, but along the Missouri River there are several; Harrah's, Argosy, Isle of Capri, Ameristar.

World's of Fun/Oceans of Fun is on the Missouri side, too, and a bit of a drive, but fun.

Visit the Country Club Plaza for some of the best shopping/ dining--East on Shawnee Mission Parkway across the state line and stay to the left when you merge with Ward Parkway.

Kansas City, has many different opportunities, it really depends on your flavor for fun. Worlds of Fun has a water park and it's full of excitement. It's also close to Harrah's and the Ameristar Casinos. They both are located on I-29 off of Front Street. Nearby is the Argosy Casino. Take I- 6-35 and head into Kansas. Where you can find many outlet shops and good food at the Legends. Located off of State Ave. I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time. Also check out the Jazz, barbque and fun in Westport, right off Broadway and Main in Missouri. Have Fun !
