How would you change the tax system?

Please don't say just reduce taxes because we have to make it up somewhere!

Preferably referring to irish taxation system

Abolish all taxes. The goverment should be profit making and not need tax dollars. And, they are allowed to coin money. There is no real purpose for having taxes.

Have more information for people to get their tax refunds / tax back.

There are loads of tax credits left unused in ireland for which you can get tax refunds. More than 50% of people do not get their full rebate available.

check out some of them in our article at:

Flat percentage sales tax. Most states have a sales tax. Just make it a flat 10% on all sales other than food, medical and other necessities. The states collect it, keep their portion, and remit the balance to the US government. That way, there need be no IRS or employees, drastically cutting expenses at the federal level.

There's no good reason to have duplication in collection, so let the states handle it. Also, it often costs the IRS more to collect taxes than they get. Lastly, it costs us taxpayers a fortune to have taxes prepared, keep records, and defend ourselves against audits.

If we eliminated all the cost associated with the "tax industry" at the federal level, our economy would support our government and the system would accomplish all of its' goals. Taxes would be uniformly fair, as those who spent the most money would pay the most taxes. Those with little income (and who spend the least money) would pay very little in taxes. There would be 0 collection problems, and taxpayers couldn't cheat. Money wouldn't be moved to other countries to avoid taxation, and savings would be encouraged since you wouldn't pay taxes on interest earned or savings unless you spent it.

It's so simple the government and politicians can't comprehend it. Since it would wipe out the national debit in a few years, require hundreds of thousands of bureaucrats to get a real job, and put our tax system on a cash basis, I guess it's just a dream.

Encourage people to work overtime,If I do I get hammered. Its just not worth it!

I would most definitely target the richer, i read in the Irish independent that some of the wealthier people are paying zero tax which is just crazy, I would also take Ray Burke's' pension he is getting 100,000 a year and he was found guilty in court of embezzling funds when he was a minister for finance.
