Guys, what are the best books that can help me understand the market like stocks, bonds and securities?

i have a basic knowledge. but i want to know more about it.. eventually i wanna write series 6,63 and 7 exam . I watch news, read articles but the fundamentals are the most important thing. i don't wanna skip a beat. so, guy pz advice me a book written by scholars or market players. thanks . have a nice day

Intelligent Investor by Benjamin Graham. It's somewhat dense, but it's lessons are timeless. If you can get your hands on it, Margin of Safety by Seth Klarman. There are only maybe 5000 copies of this book in the world, and they sell online for over $1000. Some libraries have them, but you are only allowed to read it on the premises of the library. It's really good stuff though - worth it's weight in gold, even at today's prices ;) Search worldcat.org for it to find one in a library close to you. Also, some people have distilled notes from this book online in PDF format. I'm sure that if you google it you'll find it.

Finally, fool has a pretty good guide:

Everything by Peter Lynch.

To be honest you can find all the info online for free. Visit FOOL.com or Investopedia.com. Then marketocracy.com to test your skills.

1. Start with online resources like - Yahoo Finance, Fool.com, Morningstar.com, and a myriad of other resources online.

2. One up on Wall Street by Peter Lynch (oldie but goodie)

3. Hate to say this, but to get a high level overview - get the Dummies guide to Investments. Will give you enough of an idea of what each of the instruments are.

4. Black Swan (technical, but great book)

5. Stock for the long run

6. Get on the Wharton or U of C website and see what books they have for their curriculum on Investments. Use this book as a guide.

7. Finally is you want to take the series exam, see what books they recommend.
