Stock Backtesting Programs: What should I use?

I am looking for a solid backtesting program for both technical analysis and fundamental analysis; which ever I can find. I appreciate any help! Please link me to any relevant programs/sites etc. Thanks!

I would like something that is free, but more importantly something that offers me everything I need. That includes a plethora of technical analysis indicators for technical backtesting, as well as historical finances for fundamental backtesting.

Schwab's streetsmart pro does backtesting for technicals.

Backtesting usually is only applied to automated systems and that means technical systems. Fundamental ideas really can't be backtested in any meaningful way because the data comes out in clumps every three months with quarterly reports. Yes, you can run the numbers through some system, and get an answer, but it won't be reliable because there are simply too few data points. This doesn't even touch the problem that financial data is frequently released and then restated. Sometimes it's even fake (look at Enron and Worldcom)

For your technical backtesting, you can try stockfetcher.com .

The free version is limited with its functions, I think the monthly is $15 or so, it lets you back test strategies through creating filters.
