Question about the percentage rate of a Certificate of Deposit? |
I am looking on bankrate.com for how much I could make off of certificates of deposits. I will be using Wachovia soon, and for a 6-month CD the site says you earn 1.39%. Is that monthly, or in total? rates are normally quoted on a per annum basis. Therefore the interest for 6 months is computed as I = prt where p is principal, r is the rate (1.39%) and t is the term (which in this case is 6/12 or sometimes 180days/360days etc.) Hope this helps. It's an annual percentage rate -- and a poor deal. Try Countrywide Bank. |
