Selling stock in ICH Corporation from late 60's, they merged with what company? how do i sell or contact them?

My dad told me had some stocks his dad bought him around 1968 in either ICH Corporation or Southwestern Life Insurance Company. Currently I don't have any certificates I only have a ICH Corp 1986 annual report (with Southwestern Life Insurance Company circled as if that's the one they own) and the notice of meeting of stockholders booklet. I wanted to find out if it is still around and worth anything (i would think so). I didn't want to turn the grandparents house upside down to hopefully find certificate (that we may or may not need) So far I have only found that Conseco and ICH may have merged in 1988 but I'm not sure that's the same company. Thanks in advance for ANY help.

Its the same company ICH merged with Conseco in 1988. I thought it was a partial cash offer but I could be mistaken. It has been so long ago. I unfortunately had that dog of a stock ICH and learned my lesson from it.

Conseco had its share of problems much later on with its purchase of Green Tree Financial and had to reorganize so I am unsure what you are going to end up with. I really never bought Conseco because it was run by the same bozos at ICH and pulled the same crapola by leveraging junk companies.

But there is hope you might get something salvageable. Why? If you never converted the shares the registrar of the stock files them as unclaimed property with the state and the stock is automatically sold so you might have received proceeds when Conseco was solvent. I would check the states where the owner lived during those years. It could have very well ended up as unclaimed property inventory of the respective state where the owner has lived.

BTW if the state has it as unclaimed property you still have to prove it with certificates and/or a letter from the registrar/transfer agent with the certificate numbers.

Normally in that situation the predator company would've bought out the shares or they would've given your dad their shares.
Southern was bought out and that company was bought out again ultimately by HILLCREST HEALTH HOLDINGS
I believe they are no longer in business.
I could be wrong though. I'm pretty sure that hillcrest was the last company.

sorry
