Cds??????????????

meaning Certificate of deposit....anyone have one of those? What exactly are they....and how much time is good time to make a substantial moutn of money....are they good to get?

CD's are good for those people who don't know how to invest.

You will get a 13% rate of interest in Belarusian banks. NO RISK AT ALL because all deposits are state secured.
Or lend your money privately to Belarusian entrepreneurs who will pay you over 30% interest per year. Very low risk and high rate of return.

For more details please email me at bestinvest@land.ru (with your nickname at Yahoo Answers)
Good luck!

Certificate of Deposit

I have I liked the 90 day ones cause I had one every month so one was coming of age every month

I compounded mine when it came to its 90 day I would add to it nickel here nickel there adds up fast

CD's are safe, fdic insured investments. They currently pay about 4-5% interest, but they are a good place to put money if you think the economy is going down next year.

They are basically term savings accounts and come in various periods. I would not go in for longer then 1 year and probably not even that long. you can always roll it over agian when it comes due.

you might want to try something like this:
with 1/3 of your money, buy a 3 month CD,
the next month another 1/3 in a 3 month CD
the third month the final 1/3 in a 3 month CD
then the next month the first 1/3 becomes available and you can just roll that over into an new one.

This way, you always have money coming available each month in case you have an emergency.... If you have more money, you can do this on 6 month CD's

Also, you can do a 6 month and several 3 month CD's

look up "bond laddering" on the internet

online savings account rates pay just about the same rates and you do not have to lock up your money.

Most CD rates are around 4 - 4.50 percent. It's really difficult to make a "substantial amount of money" when they're only paying around 4.50 percent. If you invest 100,000 for one year, then you would generate about 4,500 in interest. It's nice to have that extra amount of money, but I would not call that substantial - and it required 100,000 investment in the first place.
