Barron's Magazine: worth the price?

I am interested in buying barron's magazine but am somewhat turned off by its high price. Is it worth the price? I am an individual investor and would use the magazine as an investment idea generator. Is Barron's good in this use?

All their content is free now on line, I think. There are a few articles that are only accessible to subscribers for a couple of days, but then they are available to all. It's a great magazine, however. You can get a big discount if you're a student.

I just bought an issue a few weeks ago. It said "buy Holly (HOC)". I bought the stock and I am up a few hundred dollars, so I would say it is worth it:

Could be, but that depends on if it "cooks" what you like to eat. The same could be asked with BusinessWeek, Forbes, Fortune, Investors Business Daily, or the Wall Street Journal. Each have their "perspective" and a rarified "universe" of investments and analysis methods. Frankly, there was a time when I got it free online with my WSJ subscription (but no more) and found it occasionally interesting, but not enough for me to buy the subscription when they made the split. Still, take comfort in this, if you do buy, if you stay within the range of their investment advice, you will save yourself a pile of ills from cheaper sources, remember, "You get what you pay for." I no longer buy Fortune, it was feeding me expensive garbage by a small spoonful each month. I like heftier and more profitable meals. Good luck.
