How are dividends paid on long stocks? |
How are dividends paid on long stocks? If your stocks are held in a brokerage account, the broker will receive the dividends when the company pays them and will credit your account. If you are holding the stock certificates, the dividend check will be sent to you my mail. Companies may, but are not required, to declare and pay dividends periodically. If the stock is held in a brokerage account the dividend will be sent to your broker and deposited into your account. I you are holding the actual stock certificate, the payment will be mailed to you. You did not identify the company but you may also have a dividend reinvestment option where you can buy additional stock in lieu of a cash payment. There are no brokerage fees associated with this purchase they mail them to you. |
