What is the difference between stocks and options?


What is the difference between stocks and options?

Stock is the actual shares of a company.

Options provide traders the control of those those shares.

Options are sold in contracts, usually consisting of the right to control100 shares per contract.

Options expire. Stocks don't expire.

Options traders have the right, but not the obligation, to buy those shares for a certain price.
