When dealing with investment do you get paid quaterly, weekly, or bi- weekly?

when dealing with investment do you get paid quaterly, weekly, or bi- weekly? If I want to gain atleast $500 in profit how much money would I have to invest in stock?

*Stock of choose would be medium

As a general rule the stock market increases by 10% a year. That's not a guarantee and must stocks don't offer dividends. The reason for that is that companies consider reinvesting profits in growth a better value to shareholders than dividends (it lets them sustain the 10% yearly increase in value.... Stocks than offer dividends generally don't grow that fast and offer maybe 1% of the stock value as dividends.

If you want to invest you need to think of it as a long term proposition, especially in today's market. Other investment methods, like CD's or IRA's will pay quarterly or even monthly, but the key to building money is to keep that interest in the account where it can compound additional interest. 401K's are good IF your employer matches contributions, another alternative would be a fund, which is buying pieces of several shares that are intended to diversify the account, but have fees attached. Fidelity is a decent fund manager and there are others. IRA's are a good retirement option. The nice thing about those is that the taxes are deferred until money is taken out, so you have 30-40% more money to compound in the account.

Good luck at whatever you choose!

Income (dividends) are normally paid bi-annually, although can be paid quarterly or, less common, annually.

The gain (profit) is received when you sell your investment at (hopefully) a higher price than you purchased it.

If you want to make $500 profit (assuming a 1 year time horizon) I would roughly estimate you need to invest around $5,000 as a 10% return over a year seems fair

If you are talking about stock\market investment, it is most unlikely you will get paid less than quarterly. I presume you mean the income aspect (dividends or interest) If you are talking about the gain then obviously you could take this in any time frame from 1minute to whatever. Most companies, in the UK, at least, pay 1/2 yearly divs. Some pay quarterly.

Your second question is difficult. in theory it could be $10 However you would have to be exceptionally lucky, or perhaps through a highly geared option or warrant. Normally i suppose $5000 (giving you a 10% gain) But, really it's an impossible question. For example if you bought a share (or option) in a company and the following day there was a takeover bid your return could be over 100%. Or say a tiny mining stock that strikes a rich vein of gold!!!
